The Rabbit Help Association (SPK) brings together people who want to actively engage in the broadly understood rabbit help. All members of the SPK work on a voluntary basis. We operate throughout the country. The Association itself has existed since 2004. The SPK has adoption centres in: Sopot, Krakow, Warsaw, Poznan, Wroclaw, Lublin and Rybnik.
The adoption of rabbits is the priority goal of our Association. Their homelessness is a common phenomenon, but not noticeable or downplayed. The association welcomes homeless rabbits and is looking for new, responsible homes for them. You can learn more about our adoptions at www.adopcje.kroliki.net. However, not adoptions became the reason for establishing the Association.
We can not allow animals to be treated as objects, for which the chances of a healthy life are reduced for profit. We are well aware that many people do not know how to look after rabbits. There is a trend for a rabbit. These animals, usually bought on impulse, as a surprise gift, without any preparations, are quickly looking for new homes. Some of them become food for other animals…
Therefore, education is another area of our activity. We want to refute the myth of a rabbit seen as a plushie, a mascot that supposedly loves to be carried on its arms and is the perfect pet for small children. We promote prophylaxis in the form of vaccination and neutering to reduce the uncontrolled population of animals. As a group of people dealing with the subject of rabbit for years, we decided to establish an association whose aim would be to work for the good of these animals and propagate knowledge about them. The Association is a tool to achieve specific goals, it is not an end in itself.
